Ms. Priyanka Jha

Chairperson


Ms. Jha, recently elected as the Chairperson of Media Action Nepal in December 2024 for a four-year term, has been a dedicated leader within the organization. Prior to her current role, she served as the Vice-Chairperson for two consecutive terms spanning eight years. Her expertise encompasses monitoring media rights violations, ensuring conflict and gender sensitivity in media content, conducting media research, writing, facilitation skills, and fundraising.

Ms. Jha holds a Master’s degree in Conflict and Peace Studies and an undergraduate degree in Media Studies. She has an extensive background in journalism, having worked with several national media outlets, and has contributed to various research projects on media and freedom of expression. Passionate about freedom of speech, media, and gender issues, she specializes in promoting social inclusion and gender equality.

Her contributions extend to national and international campaigns and organizations, including serving as a media monitor for the Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP), projects manager for Nepal Peace Building Initiative (NPI) and researcher for UNESCO and several organizations. Ms. Jha’s experience reflects her commitment to fostering a free and inclusive media landscape.
