Fellowship Winners for the Fair Media Coverage of Elections

KATHMANDU/ November 2:  We are pleased to announce the successful winners of the fellowship programme for journalists of Nepal representing all seven provinces and all types of media outlets, as part of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) supported ‘Strengthening professional capacity of journalists through sensitization, mentoring and fellowships to promote fair media coverage of elections in Nepal‘  project.

The 14 fellows including nine women, selected on the basis of their dedicated engagement in province level media sensitization workshops and they represent a wide range of experience in journalism in in all types of media outlets such as radio stations, television channels, newspapers and online news portals.

These fellows will attend a day long virtual mentoring programme from national and international experts led by Media Action Nepal Chairperson Laxman Datt Pant to further excel their skills on reporting elections. This mentoring programme provides an opportunity to selected fellows to develop newsroom and reporting strategies for reporting elections including diverse media content. Based on the accepted pitches, each participant will prepare/produce and disseminate two in-depth stories covering various dimensions of democratic and participatory elections.
